The village of Saint-Meme-les-Carrières is home to several drink producers, as well as an ancestral history around stone which remains fascinating today. Discover these centuries-old constructions.

Vous séjournerez en chambre d’hôtes, chez nos partenaires sélectionnés avec soin, en bord de Charente, pour profiter pleinement du charme des lieux (La Cascade de Saintonge). Ainsi, vous serez totalement libres et indépendants pour vous déplacer à pied ou à vélo (sur option). Une sélection de producteurs vous est proposée afin que vous puissiez trouver le produit made in Charente qui vous correspond le mieux : entre les cognacs les plus luxueux, la gamme de Pineau des Charentes traditionnelle (la madeleine de Proust pour certains), ou encore les liqueurs aux arômes envoûtants, vous ne saurez sans doute plus où donner de la tête ! Pour compléter vos journées, le patrimoine vous sera présenté et expliqué avec un paquet d’anecdotes historiques ! Découvrez les secrets du village, les carrières et l’église de Saint-Même aux origines datant du XIIe siècle. Il s’agit d’un monument historique classé depuis 1906 qui est composé d’une nef unique, d’un transept et d’un chœur. Dans la même idée, l’abbaye de Bassac (village jouxtant celui de Saint-Même) sera réservée pour une visite guidée. Cette ancienne abbaye bénédictine fondée au XIe siècle est aussi devenue monument classé. Bon vous l’aurez compris, on a prévu du lourd en termes de spiritualité et de spiritueux 😊

17h : arrivée à la chambre d’hôtes (stationnement gratuit sur le parking prévu à cet effet). Prise en possession des lieux, temps pour vous de 30 minutes.
5:30 p.m.: immersion at the Cognac and Pineau des Charentes producer (family home for almost 200 years). This will be an opportunity to learn more about this aperitif which has best represented the House for 5 generations. Taste two of the most emblematic of them to understand the aromatic palette that this sweet drink containing around 17 to 18% of pure alcohol can offer.
19h30 : retour à la chambre d’hôtes où un dîner vous sera préparé avec soin.
9:30 a.m.: hearty breakfast.
10:30 a.m.: meet at the heart of a local House for an immersion this time in the world of Cognac, and more particularly one of the most prestigious vintages in the region, Grande Champagne. You will be invited to make the connection with the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte by discovering the old bottles and packaging dating back more than 200 years there too! You will slowly slide towards tasting the House's products with an introduction to cocktails. Don't panic for the kids: a mini creative workshop will allow them to take a leap into History while the adults enjoy their moment!
12h : le remarquable restaurant L’Essille, dans la ville de Bassac, vous sera réservé pour un déjeuner.
3 p.m.: guided tour of Bassac Abbey (30 minutes by bike from the restaurant so leave around 2:15 p.m.).
6 p.m.: a stone's throw from the river, go down and enjoy the mildness of the sunny days...
19h : retour à chambre d’hôtes pour un dîner romantique et une soirée au bord de l’eau…
10 a.m.: once you have eaten brunch, let yourself be tempted by a visit to the village (the church, the quarries, and so many other details left by our ancestors). Take note of all the particularities of the architecture because it may well be that a symbol is already familiar to you... which one?
11 a.m.: the liqueur producer opens its doors to you exceptionally to end your introductory journey in limestone lands. This innovative liqueur recently developed will delight you! It's time to think about gifts to give or to give yourself!
12 p.m.: return home, or extend your stay with our other offers made in Charentes.
